How we approach the number 8 through the wisdom of human subconsciousness

* Only the number 8 (apart from the source 0) can be drawn cyclically over and over again. The site of the transition between the two perfect upper and lower circles is the only point = the point of birth and death.

* There are 8 stages in the Buddhist journey.

* There are 8 mortal beings in the Tao Ba Gua system, who have control over the path.

* Feng shui works with 8 directions.

* Judaism demands that circumcision be performed on exactly the eighth day.

The number 8 is an unparalleled number. It incorporates something Cosmic and charming. When we look at it, we feel it is extraordinary. It is magical at fi rst glance. It has a perfect shape. It emerges from the shape of the circle. It therefore incorporates absolute perfection. But it also contains a symbolic obstacle within itself, the point of crossing. There's some resemblance between the 8 and the word nOOse. We naturally catch prey in a noose, don't we? It'll be a good idea to explore the number 8 a bit more.

The circle is perfection. But the 8 is symbolically composed of two circles. What does it mean? One is higher than the other, but together they form one entity. The circle - that's the ancient potential that gave rise to everything. The primeval potential, after it formed itself, is now manifesting itself in the form of two circles, one above the other - the 8.

Everything has been in tune with everything else so far in our Cosmic Story of Creation. Let's try to draw on it then. Which numbers of the story remind us of the 8? It can't be missed - the combination of the 6 with the 9. It's a perfect combination of shapes and forms.

The 6 interconnected with the 9, that's the 8. The 8 therefore symbolises the interconnection and entwining of the number 6 and 9 principles. Which part of the 8 speaks of the very transition from the number 6 principles to the 9 principles? It's the site of crossing, so in the symbolical level of the CROSS. The place of the crossing is then the CROSS. The crossing has just one point in its centre. This symbolism tells us that the transition between the 6 and 9 worlds is point-like. Within the cross symbolism, it means just one moment in life. In our lives, there are just two moments that correspond to this - birth and death.

An interesting fact is that we don't write the 8 as two circles. We write it by means of crossing. We start with descending from the highest point. We descend ANTICLOCKWISE from the higher level into the lower one. At the site of crossing we don't go back upwards to complete the circle, but instead, descend CLOCKWISE all the way into the lowest levels at the imaginary bottom, from where we carry on with drawing the arc until the bottom circle is completed. Only after fi nishing the whole bottom circle (on completing the entire stay in the lower spheres), we return to the higher spheres to now only complete the previously unfi nished 'upper world' circle. And now the miracle happens. We can repeat the whole journey over and over again. It's outstanding and unique. Apart from the absolute 0, which gave rise to everything, the 8 is the only number which also possesses the privilege of the highest Divine periodicity. That's a powerful, symbolic message.

In other words, the fi rst thing that takes place in higher spheres (spiritual world) is conscious preparations and work on the descent into the physical adventures in lower spheres. We go through the site of transition between the two worlds and seemingly all of a sudden we are thrown into the realm of 'THE OPPOSITE', physical world (the site of crossing is a mere point). We are forced to complete the whole cycle of life in matter. We have to fi nish the whole circle. It's only upon fi nishing the circle (after physical death), that we are allowed to return to our original, spiritual homeland (again through the same site of crossing). We ascend into higher spheres. We return home and evaluate all that we have experienced.

It is amazing symbolism that the whole earthly cycle of one life, symbolised by the number 8, is only fi nished when we fi nish the top, spiritual circle. And at that moment, the 8 is miraculously ready for another developmental adventure.

The 8 also resembles a pair of handcuffs (OO). And truly, we are literally trapped in the number 8 handcuffs. We are forced to remain on the number 8 path for as long as until we break lOOse from it through our own Cognition and maturity.

Let's try to entwine the 6 and 9 principles and see what outcome it will produce.

BY REACHING THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF COGNITION WITHIN THE NUMBER 9 SPHERE, THE SOUL GAINS THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENTER INTO THE NUMBER 10 SPHERE.

The numbers 6 and 9 entwined in the number 8

The perfection both 'UP and 'DOWN'. Death and rebirth are the equivalent of each other. Realisation of the perfection and unity of both spheres. Symbolically, it makes brilliant sense. Just remember the similar interconnection of two opposing number 4s, the principles of understanding and handling of the living environment, so the upper 4 and the downwards reversed 4.

The same both 'UP and 'DOWN'

We have again acquired a powerful message. The triangle symbolises the number 3, thus action and development. We acquired two interconnected triangles, a symbolic message saying: action and development both up and down. For the enlightened, the number 8 symbolises the knowledge of the essence of our life journey. It describes in detail the principles of our existence and connection to the SOURCE. It connects opposing worlds in UNISON. The Buddhists' path, for example, has 8 stages. In the Taoist BA-GUA system, there are 8 immortal beings that infl uence the journey and FENG SHUI, for example, works with 8 directions. In Judaism, the rite of circumcision is performed exactly on the 8th day after birth. There is probably no more powerful symbolism. Saint Augustine viewed the 8 as a symbol of resurrection and the fi rst baptismal fonts were octagonal in shape.

The fascinating thing is that what all, people knew back then, can also be put into practice today, to make our life easier and more joyful, literally every day, from morning to night.

When the Tibetan monks want to absorb the maximum Cosmic energy (Prana) into their spinal column, they acquire a special posture called the 'tortoise posture', placing their spines into an ideal position for absorption and start moving the sides of their bodies in fi gure 8 movements. They know that the absorption of the INSUBSTANTIAL Cosmic energy will be maximised by the active 'fi gure 8 movements' of the PHYSICAL body. It may be happening because this process of conscious, active Prana absorption is supported by the number 8 principles, in other words the PRINCIPLES OF CONNECTING DIFFERENT SPHERES OF EXISTENCE IN UNISON.

The number 8 offers literally ENDLESS POTENTIAL for exploration and practical usage.
